Is State6 affiliated with the College of Policing or any official police body?

No. State6 is an independent preparation tool built by serving officers who understand the promotion process. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the College of Policing, HMICFRS, or any force. It prepares you against the marking framework your panel will work from. For most forces that is the CVF 2024.

Does it cover my force?

All 43 Home Office forces are loaded. Your force's HMICFRS inspection findings, causes of concern, and competency picture are built into every review and coaching session. If your force has been inspected recently, that picture is already in there. The Met runs its own future focused promotion process rather than the CVF, and State6 includes a dedicated Met mode built around it; see state6.co.uk/met-police-promotion. What rank levels does it support?

State6 supports Sergeant, Inspector, and Chief Inspector boards. Questions, scoring ceilings, and coaching tone all adjust to match the rank you're applying for. For officers on the Gold plan, presentation builds are rank calibrated too: the model adjusts its scope depending on whether you're presenting at sergeant, inspector, or chief inspector level.

What is the Mock Board?

A full promotion board you sit out loud, included with Gold. A voiced AI chair asks the questions one at a time, listens to your spoken answer, asks a follow-up probe based on what you actually said, and keeps you to board timings. You choose where the questions come from: a cold board writes fresh rank-calibrated questions you meet in the room, or, on a CVF board, Rehearse your questions puts up to five questions from your own saved answers to you, exactly as written. At the end the panel scores every answer against the framework your board uses, the CVF 2024 or the Met's own model, and gives you a written debrief covering structure, descriptor coverage, pace, filler words and your I-versus-we balance. You choose the chair: four personas, from encouraging to old school. Gold includes five boards. It is the only tool of its kind in the UK, where a human mock board typically costs around £380 for a single sitting.

What do I need to sit a Mock Board?

A microphone, a quiet room, and about ten minutes per question. A headset gives the cleanest sound both ways. It works in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on desktop and Android, and on iPhones running a current version of iOS. If your browser cannot stream speech reliably, State6 tells you before a board credit is used, never after. If you lose connection or close the page mid-board, the board waits for you and resuming costs nothing.

Is my voice recorded or stored?

No. Your speech is transcribed live during the board and the audio is never stored, by us or anyone else. Only the written transcript is kept, saved privately to your account alongside your debrief, where you can review or delete it like any other evidence.

How do credits work, and what happens when they run out?

Each plan comes with separate allowances. AI Board Review credits score a complete answer, one credit per review. AI Coaching credits cover your coaching exchanges, one credit each, working section by section. Question credits generate practice questions for your rank and force, one credit per question. On Gold, Mock Board credits convene a full voice board, one credit per board whether it is a cold board or a rehearsal of your own questions, and an interrupted board resumes without using another. Gold also includes 10 presentation builds. Your plan shows exactly how many you have left. If you use everything before your 90 days end, you can start a new plan, and your saved answers and evidence stay intact throughout.

What happens to my answers and evidence when my access expires?

When your plan ends, your access to platform features expires. Your account and everything you've written remain intact while the account is open. If you choose to close your account, your data is deleted within 30 days of that request. Nothing is removed automatically when your plan expires.

Is my data private? Can anyone else see my answers?

Your answers, evidence, and coaching sessions are private to your account. State6 doesn't share your content with other officers, your force, or any third party.

How accurate is the force information?

The HMICFRS inspection data in State6 is sourced directly from published PEEL reports. Each force profile includes the most recent findings available at the time of the last update. State6 shows you the date the data was last updated for your force. If it's more than 18 months old, check the HMICFRS website at hmicfrs.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk directly for any interim inspections.

I am already using ChatGPT to practise. Why would I switch?

ChatGPT doesn't know the CVF descriptors, your force's inspection picture, or what rank you're applying for. It can't cap your score for collective language, track where you are in your coaching, or spot the patterns across your last twelve answers. It also can't generate a presentation model calibrated to your rank or produce slides from it. It'll tell you your answer is strong. State6 will tell you exactly which descriptor you missed and why a panel would mark you down.

How quickly will I see a difference in my answers?

Not because they weren't good enough. Because no one had ever properly trained them on how a board interview actually works, or what the marking framework actually rewards.
