Cookie Policy
Last updated: 25 July 2026 · State6 Prep · state6.co.uk
State6 Prep uses a small number of essential cookies and similar browser storage to make the site work. We also measure how the site is used through PostHog: by default this runs without any cookies, and only if you accept do we use analytics cookies and a masked session replay. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and nothing that tracks you across other websites.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Some sites use similar browser storage, such as local storage, for the same purposes. Together they help a website remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. They are not programmes and cannot carry viruses or malware.
2. Essential Cookies and Storage
These are strictly necessary for the website and tool to work, so they are always on and do not need your consent.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk session | Set by Clerk, our login provider, to keep you signed in to your account securely. | Up to 7 days, or until you sign out |
| s6s | Browser storage that holds your selected force, rank and evidence drafts so you do not lose your work between sessions. | Until you clear it |
| s6_cookie_consent | Browser storage that remembers your analytics choice so we do not ask you again. | Until you clear it |
| Demo draft and result | Browser storage on the free demo page that keeps your draft answer and shows your result if you come back. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. | Until you clear it |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Bot protection on the free demo page only. Cloudflare runs a short check, and may use a cookie as part of it, to tell people from automated traffic. | Session |
3. Analytics
We use PostHog, our first-party product analytics tool hosted in the European Union, to understand how the platform is used so we can improve it. By default it runs in cookieless mode: it counts visits using a privacy-preserving hash calculated on PostHog's own servers and sets no cookies or storage on your device. If you choose Accept, it switches to cookie-based analytics that can recognise your browser between visits, and we also turn on a masked session replay. If you choose Essential only, it stays cookieless and no session replay is recorded.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog | First-party product analytics, hosted in the EU. In cookieless mode it counts your visit using a privacy hash, with no cookies or storage on your device. If you accept, it sets a first-party cookie and browser storage to recognise your browser between visits, and records a masked session replay of your visit. The replay masks every input and all on-screen text, so it never captures your typed answers, board evidence or personal details. PostHog does not build an advertising profile and does not track you across other websites. | Up to 12 months (only if you accept) |
4. Other Measurement
We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to measure overall traffic and page performance. These are cookieless: they store nothing on your device, do not identify you, and do not follow you across sites, so they run without needing consent.
5. Cookies We Do Not Use
- Advertising or marketing cookies.
- Social media tracking cookies, such as a Facebook or TikTok pixel.
- Cookies that follow you across other websites or build an advertising profile.
- Third-party cookies from data brokers or ad networks.
6. How to Manage Cookies
You can change your analytics choice at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site, which brings the cookie notice back. You can also view, block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though blocking the essential ones will stop the site working correctly.
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions
7. Your Consent
When you first visit State6 Prep we show a cookie notice. Choosing Accept turns on cookie-based PostHog analytics and a masked session replay. Choosing Essential only keeps to the strictly necessary cookies and storage, and analytics stays in cookieless mode, which counts your visit without setting anything on your device and never records a replay. We remember your choice so we do not ask again, and you can change it by clearing your browser storage for this site.
