Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 25 July 2026 · State6 Prep · state6.co.uk

Plain English summary

State6 Prep is a paid digital coaching tool for police officers preparing for promotion and for applicants preparing to join the police. You pay once for a fixed access period. There is no subscription or automatic renewal. The AI coaches you. It does not write your answers for you. You must not enter sensitive policing information, real names or crime data. You get immediate access when you pay, which means you waive your 14-day cancellation right, but we offer a fair refund policy. If something goes wrong, contact us at hello@state6.co.uk.

By purchasing access or using the platform, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions in full.

1. About State6 Prep

State6 Prep is an AI-assisted preparation platform designed to support police officers and police staff preparing for promotion processes in England and Wales, and applicants preparing for the police constable recruitment process, including the College of Policing online assessment. The platform is operated by State6 Prep Ltd (referred to in these terms as "State6 Prep", "we" or "us"), a company incorporated in England and Wales (company number 17230529, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ). Contact: hello@state6.co.uk. State6 Prep is an independent commercial platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the College of Policing, any police force, the Police Federation, or any public authority.

2. Eligibility

By purchasing or using State6 Prep you confirm that you are:

  • aged 18 or over,
  • a police officer, police staff member, applicant to the police service, or other person using the platform lawfully to prepare for a promotion or recruitment process,
  • using the platform in compliance with your own force policies, including policies on data handling, IT usage and professional standards.

Warning:

State6 Prep is intended for use on personal devices in personal time. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of the platform complies with their individual force policies on the use of personal AI tools, personal devices and external digital services. Most forces restrict the use of external applications on force-issued devices or networks. Do not access State6 Prep on a force-owned device, force network or during working hours without first confirming this is permitted under your force policy.

All purchases are one-off payments. There is no automatic renewal or recurring subscription. Access expires automatically at the end of the purchased period. Prices include VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to amend pricing or plan structures for future purchases. Access is granted as a personal, non-transferable licence to the individual purchaser only. It may not be shared, transferred or used by any other person.

Free trial. Where we offer a free trial, it provides limited allowances at no charge, currently 1 AI review, 10 practice questions and 15 coaching rounds, so you can try the platform before buying. No payment details are taken for a trial. A trial is limited to one per person, may not be obtained repeatedly through additional accounts, and may be changed or withdrawn by us at any time. Use of a trial is governed by these terms; a later purchase is governed by them in full.

Free demo. We also offer a free demo at state6.co.uk/demo, where a single board answer can be marked without creating an account. The demo is a sample for information only: it uses a streamlined marking engine, its availability is limited each day, and the anonymisation rules in these terms apply to anything you write in it. An email address is required to see the result; marketing email is governed separately by the optional tick on the demo, as described in our Privacy Policy. The demo may be changed or withdrawn at any time.

5. Cancellation Rights and Refunds

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a digital service purchased online. However, by completing your purchase you expressly request immediate access to State6 Prep and acknowledge that, by doing so, you lose your right to cancel under these regulations once access has been provided.

Info

By clicking to complete your purchase you are confirming: (1) you consent to immediate access to the platform; and (2) you acknowledge that your 14-day cancellation right is lost once access is provided.

Our refund commitment. Although your statutory cancellation right is waived once access begins, we offer a discretionary refund. We will provide a refund where, within 14 days of purchase, you have:

  • consumed no AI Board Review or AI Interview Review credit,
  • used fewer than 3 AI Coaching credits,
  • used no STANCE presentation credit,
  • convened no Mock Board,
  • sat no Mock CBI interview,
  • started no Written Exercise sitting.

You may use up to 5 Question credits within this period without affecting your eligibility. If you have consumed an AI Board Review or AI Interview Review credit, used 3 or more AI Coaching credits, used a STANCE presentation credit, convened a Mock Board, sat a Mock CBI interview, started a Written Exercise sitting, used more than 5 Question credits, or more than 14 days have passed since purchase, we will not issue a refund. This is because the core value of the platform has by then been accessed.

We will refund regardless of usage where:

  • the platform experienced a verified technical outage that materially prevented you from using core features for a significant part of your access period, through no fault on your part,
  • a technical error on our side resulted in you being charged more than once,
  • you were charged the wrong amount because of a pricing error on our part.

Processing fees on discretionary refunds. A refund under the first part of this section is discretionary, a goodwill refund we are not required by law to give. For these we keep the payment processing fee charged by our payment provider, Stripe, which Stripe does not return to us when a payment is refunded, and refund the balance of what you paid. This fee is the actual cost Stripe charges us, typically between one and six pounds depending on the payment method and amount, and higher for pay-later options such as Klarna; we will confirm the exact amount before processing the refund. This does not apply to the refunds listed directly above, or to any refund required by law: those are paid in full.

Refund requests should be sent to hello@state6.co.uk with your order details. We will process eligible refunds within 14 days to the original payment method. Partial refunds for unused access periods are not available.

Chargebacks. If you believe you are owed a refund, please contact us at hello@state6.co.uk first so we can resolve it directly, which is usually quicker than a card dispute. Your right to dispute a payment with your card provider is not affected by these terms. Where a chargeback is raised we will work with the card scheme and provide the relevant transaction and usage records, and we may suspend access only while a dispute about a specific payment is genuinely open and unresolved.

Your rights if something is faulty. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the digital content we provide must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you may be entitled to a repair or, where that is not possible or does not fix the problem, a price reduction or a refund. These rights apply in addition to the discretionary refund described above. The platform is a preparation aid and its AI outputs are advisory and may contain inaccuracies; that does not affect these rights where the service itself is genuinely faulty.

Your statutory rights. Nothing in these terms, including anything in this section or any reference to suspending or terminating access, affects your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law. Any refund offered above is in addition to those rights, not instead of them.

6. AI Credits

The following categories of credit or allowance are allocated at purchase, depending on plan:

  • AI Board Review credits: used when you request a full CVF-scored review of a STARR or PEEL answer. Each review uses one credit. On the Joining the Police plan these are AI Interview Review credits, used for CVF Level 1 scored reviews of interview answers.
  • AI Coaching credits: used when the AI coaching system responds section-by-section to your input during a coaching session.
  • Question credits: used when generating AI-written practice questions.
  • Mock Board credits (Gold plan, 5 included): one credit convenes one full voice mock board, used at the moment the board convenes. A board interrupted part-way (for example by lost connection or closing the page) can be resumed without using a further credit; a completed board cannot be re-sat.
  • Mock CBI interview credits (Joining the Police plan, 5 included): one credit convenes one voiced practice competency-based interview, used at the moment the interview convenes. An interview interrupted part-way can be resumed without using a further credit; a completed interview cannot be re-sat.
  • Written Exercise credits (Joining the Police plan, 5 included): one credit starts one timed Written Exercise sitting, used when the clock starts. A sitting interrupted part-way (for example by lost connection or closing the page) can be resumed without using a further credit. Only one sitting can be live at a time, and a submitted sitting cannot be re-sat.
  • STANCE presentation credits (Gold plan, 10 included): one credit per STANCE presentation model generated.

Credits are non-transferable, have no cash value, cannot be exchanged or refunded except as set out in Section 5, expire at the end of your access period, and are enforced server-side. Unused credits do not carry over.

Mock Board and Mock CBI sessions require a working microphone and a supported browser, which is checked before any credit is used. Spoken answers are transcribed in real time; audio is not stored, and the written transcript is saved to your account as described in our Privacy Policy. Mock Board and Mock CBI feedback is a practice aid only: it is not an official assessment and no outcome at a real promotion board or recruitment assessment is implied or guaranteed.

7. AI Coaching Important Limitations

Important:

The AI coach is designed to support you in developing your own evidence and responses. It is not intended to produce completed promotion answers for direct submission. You remain solely responsible for any content you choose to rely on, submit or use in any promotion process.

AI outputs may contain inaccuracies, omissions or generalisations, may not reflect the most current version of the CVF or force-specific promotion expectations, are not a substitute for your own professional judgement and preparation, and must always be reviewed, personalised and verified by you before use in any promotion process.

Technical access on work networks. Some features, including the Mock Board, the Mock CBI and voice input, stream live audio and need a stable, open internet connection. Work and police IT equipment and networks, including VPNs, often block this, so the platform may not work, or may not work fully, on them. For a reliable experience, and to stay within your force's IT and acceptable-use policies, use State6 Prep on a personal device and a home or mobile network. Difficulty connecting on a restricted or monitored network is a limitation of that network, not a fault in the platform.

8. No Guarantee of Promotion or Selection

State6 Prep provides preparation tools and guidance only. We do not guarantee promotion success, selection for the police service, interview performance, assessment outcomes, pass marks, or suitability for any promotion or recruitment process. Outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including your own preparation, experience, performance and the decisions of assessment panels and recruiting forces.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to share your account credentials with any other person, access or attempt to access another user's account or data, circumvent security controls or credit limitations, use automated tools to extract platform content at scale, reproduce or commercially exploit platform content without permission, upload unlawful or abusive content, use the platform for any unlawful purpose, or interfere with the operation or security of the platform.

Professional standards warranty:

By using the platform you warrant that (a) any evidence, STARR examples or PEEL responses you submit to your force represent your own work and your own genuine experience; (b) you have not submitted AI-generated content as your own original work; and (c) your use of this platform complies with your force's specific policy on AI-assisted drafting. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access without refund where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.

10. Fair Usage

To protect service quality for all users and manage platform costs fairly, the following usage limits apply.

Input limits: AI features enforce a maximum input of approximately 1,500 words per submission; submissions exceeding this limit will not be processed and an error message will be displayed. The Written Exercise is the exception: its answer box accepts up to 4,500 words per sitting, the word counter shows the limit, and text beyond it cannot be added.

Prohibited automated use: You must not use automated tools, scripts or bots to interact with the platform, generate content in bulk, or systematically extract platform content.

Account sharing: Access is personal and non-transferable. You must not share your login credentials or allow any other person to use your account.

Abuse prevention: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access without refund where we detect patterns of misuse, including but not limited to: repeated account creation to circumvent credit limits, use of disposable email addresses, or use of the platform on behalf of third parties.

11. Operational Data Confidentiality and Anonymisation

Warning:

You must not upload, enter or store within the platform: names or identifying details of any individual, crime reference numbers CAD numbers NICHE or custody references, operational intelligence or tactics, safeguarding or misconduct information, protectively marked material, information relating to live investigations, or any personal data capable of identifying a living individual.

All evidence and examples must be fully anonymised. You remain solely responsible for ensuring all content you enter complies with your force policies, confidentiality obligations, professional standards, the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.

12. Intellectual Property

The State6 Prep platform, branding, design, content, structure and functionality are owned by State6 Prep Ltd and protected by applicable intellectual property law. CVF-related content within the platform is State6's own work, written to align with the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework (CVF 2024). The framework itself remains the property of the College of Policing, and State6 is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by the College. You retain full ownership of the evidence, STARR examples, PEEL responses and portfolio content you create within the platform.

13. Availability and Changes

The service is provided on an as is and as available basis. We aim to keep the platform available and functioning reliably but do not guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free operation. We may modify platform features, update AI models or providers, change functionality, perform maintenance, or suspend access temporarily for operational or security reasons.

Reliance on third-party providers. The platform depends on third-party providers for core functions, including Anthropic for AI coaching and review, Deepgram and ElevenLabs for voice features, Stripe for payments, and Clerk and Supabase for accounts and data storage. If one of these providers has an outage, suffers degraded performance, changes its service or withdraws it, some or all features may be temporarily or permanently unavailable. This is outside our reasonable control and we are not liable for losses caused by a third-party provider's failure or downtime. We will take reasonable steps to restore the service or move to an alternative provider, and where such an outage verifiably and materially prevents you from using core features for a significant part of your access period, the refund commitment in Section 5 applies. This does not affect your statutory rights.

14. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability where exclusion is unlawful. To the fullest extent permitted by law, State6 Prep shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of opportunity, loss of promotion prospects, loss of data, reputational loss, reliance on AI-generated content, or platform downtime. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for your current access period.

15. Complaints

If you have a complaint about the service, please contact us at hello@state6.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days.

16. Data Protection

Your use of State6 Prep is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

17. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
