The flagship feature
The Mock Board is the only AI mock promotion board built for UK policing. A voiced chair sits the board with you. It asks rank-calibrated questions out loud, listens to the answer you actually speak, probes on what you said, keeps real board timings and scores every answer against the CVF 2024. You then get a full written debrief saved to your portfolio. This is the one thing a written builder cannot rehearse, delivering out loud, under pressure, before the day itself.

I vs we
A real voice. A real probe of what you actually said.
What the board scores
This is far more than a CVF tick. Every answer earns a whole-number mark from one to five, the way a real marking sheet awards it, and so does the board overall. Then you get a written debrief that tells you exactly where the marks went and what to fix.
Every answer is scored a whole number from one to five against the CVF 2024 area for your rank, and the whole board gets an overall mark with a verdict phrase such as tracking at pass standard or below pass standard, work to do.
An answer pitched below your target rank is capped at three, however polished it sounds. Sergeant is judged on first-line management, Inspector on managing sergeants and resourcing across teams, Chief Inspector on managing managers at force level.
Where descriptors exist for that area at that rank, each one is rated as demonstrated, partial or not demonstrated with a short line of evidence, shown as an expandable breakdown so you see precisely what landed.
Each answer gets a one-sentence verdict against the framework it should follow, STARR for past experience and PEEL for forward-facing questions, naming what was present and what was missing.
The board counts your use of I against we and us, because a panel can only score the individual. Collective language that hides your own contribution is marked down, and how you held up under the probe is scored too.
It measures your speaking time, your pace in words per minute and your filler words per minute, highlights every um and er in the word-for-word transcript and notes whether the chair had to stop you. The full debrief auto-saves to My Portfolio.
How the board runs
Your chosen chair welcomes you in character, sets out the format and warns that probes may follow, then asks each rank-calibrated question out loud. You answer by speaking, not typing.
After your answer the chair asks one follow-up probe aimed at something you actually said, a vague claim, a gap or an untested decision, or something you conspicuously left out. A learned script does not survive contact, and a weak probe never sinks the board.
The main answer targets five to six minutes, with an on-screen warning at six and the chair stopping you in character at seven. Probes are tighter. Your timing discipline feeds the score, so you learn to land your evidence inside the window the panel gives you.
The board is saved as you go, so a refresh, a crash or a dead battery picks up exactly where you left off without spending another credit. Pause lands between questions with the next one sealed, and ending early still scores what you have done. Gold includes five full boards.
Meet the chairs
Each chair has a real voice and a real manner. The persona changes how the board feels and how it probes you, but never the standard. The marking is always CVF 2024 at your rank.

The developer
Voice Warm and encouraging.
Style She lets you settle, keeps you at ease and probes gently with one supportive follow-up that helps you show more of what you did. Never hostile, never patronising. Ideal for your first boards.
“Good morning, do come in and take a seat. There is no rush at all. We will begin whenever you are ready.”

The examiner
Voice Dry and precise.
Style Strictly by the book, no warmth and no hostility. He follows the marking sheet to the letter, and his probes target whatever was vague, unevidenced or unquantified. Short, exact sentences.
“Good morning. We have five questions for you today. Please keep your answers specific, and evidenced. We will begin.”

The challenger
Voice Calm and direct.
Style She pushes back on your position with the strongest credible counter argument and expects you to hold your ground. Calm, never rude. Survive Hale and the real thing feels familiar.
“Good morning. I chair this board, and I should tell you now, I will test your answers. If you believe in them, hold your ground.”

The old school
Voice Gruff and weathered.
Style Thirty years on the front line and no patience for management speak or vagueness. Hide behind we and he wants to know what you personally did. Reach for jargon and he tells you to say it plainly. A straight, honest, evidenced answer earns his respect, and he says so.
“Sit down. We will keep this simple, you and me, plain English. I do not want the team, I do not want the working group, I want what you did. Right, off we go.”
The maths
A single human mock board costs around £380 for one sitting, on someone else's diary. Gold gives you five for £149.99, plus every other tool on the platform.
Better still, you sit it whenever and wherever you want. It runs in your browser on your own device, on demand, so a late turn, a rest day or a quiet half hour at home all work. For a busy shift worker that means real board practice without booking a thing, and if you get pulled away the board saves and resumes with no credit lost.

Common questions
A single human mock board costs around £380 for one sitting. State6 Gold includes five AI mock boards for £149.99, with 90 days of access and every other tool on the platform.
Yes. The Mock Board runs in your browser on your own device, on demand, so you can sit a full board on a rest day, after a late turn or in a quiet half hour at home. You speak your answers and a voiced chair listens, probes and scores you. If you are pulled away the board saves and resumes with no credit lost, which suits shift work.
Every answer earns a whole-number mark from one to five against the CVF 2024 area for your rank, and so does the board overall, with a verdict phrase. The written debrief covers answer structure against STARR or PEEL, the CVF descriptor breakdown, your I versus we balance, how you handled the probe, and your pace, filler words and timing. It all saves to My Portfolio with a word-for-word transcript.
It covers Sergeant, Inspector and Chief Inspector across all 43 Home Office forces. Questions are calibrated to your target rank, and an answer pitched below that rank is capped at three. When enabled, your force HMICFRS inspection picture is woven into a question or two where it fits.
